Liverpool fans react as club reportedly closing in on a move to sign Porto's Otavio
Portuguese outlet A Bola have claimed that Liverpool are reportedly inches away from completing a move to sign Porto ace Otavio. The midfielder has been in excellent form for Porto of late, and Liverpool have taken note. Liverpool fans have now reacted on Twitter to reports Otavio could join.
Otavio, 26, had a hand in 17 goals last season as Porto were pipped to the Liga NOS table by Sporting Lisbon by five points. Porto did enjoy a solid season, though, reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League, before losing to eventual champions Chelsea. He has a contract until 2025.
The new report claims that Liverpool have made a “strong” approach for Brazilian winger Otavio. He is naturally a left winger but can also play in the middle or on the right. He did just that last season, scoring five goals and creating 12 more. The report says a move to Liverpool is “imminent”.
What are Liverpool fans saying about Otavio – amid reports?
The winger is said to have a release clause worth £35million, but that exit clause is about to increase to £50million in the next few weeks. The Reds could do with a player that can push the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, with Xherdan Shaqiri to be sold for £13million. That is, as per The Mirror.
Liverpool have little competition in the final third for Mane and Salah, though Diogo Jota did impress in his first season. However, he was poor at Euro 2020, and Jurgen Klopp might feel he needs another weapon. Otavio provides versatility, and Liverpool fans want him signed.
