Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the pick of the four goals at Anfield on Thursday night, as Liverpool beat Newcastle United 3-1. Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter, loving what Thiago did in reaction to Alexander-Arnold’s goal.

It was a comfortable-ish win in the end for Liverpool, though they were tested by a brave Newcastle side under Eddie Howe. The Toon pressed high at times, and worked incredibly hard – perhaps deserving more.

Jonjo Shelvey gave Newcastle the lead against his former side, lashing a 25-yard drive into Alisson’s bottom corner. But Diogo Jota equalised, controversially, with Isaac Hayden down with a head injury. Mike Dean continued play.

Mo Salah netted his 22nd of the season before Alexander-Arnold unleashed a hammer strike. A brilliant effort that flew into the top corner – and a video has emerged on Twitter of Thiago’s brilliant reaction, the Spaniard in disbelief.

The win was doubly as good for Liverpool, after their Merseyside rivals managed to stop Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and earn a point – drawing 1-1. Jordan Pickford, a Tottenham target, was immense between the sticks.

Thiago, of course, was given enormous praise for his wonderful effort against FC Porto in the Champions League. His shot was a thing of beauty, skimming through into the corner. Whether it hit the ground is up for debate.
