Everton produced a magnificent defensive display to draw 1-1 with Chelsea on Thursday night, at Stamford Bridge. Jordan Pickford was excellent throughout – and Tottenham fans have raved about his performance.
Everton came into the match with numerous senior players missing. It saw Jonjoe Kenny, Jarrad Branthwaite, Anthony Gordon and Ellis Simms all start. Lewis Dobbin and Tyler Onyango made substitute appearances.
It was one of those that got his name on the score sheet. Branthwaite cancelled out Mason Mount’s 70th-minute opener. Branthwaite latched on to a delivery from Gordon, sliding home an effort past Edouard Mendy.
A quite brilliant performance from Everton, who just about managed to throw a competitive team together. Their game against Leicester City on the weekend has been cancelled, due to the new outbreak of COVID.

But Everton had to rely on their England goalkeeper at times. Pickford made numerous saves throughout the match, denying Thiago Silva’s header with a superb low save late on. He is a target for Tottenham.
What are Tottenham fans saying about Everton goalkeeper Pickford?
Pickford was at his best. Distribution, saves, leadership – he showed it all. Spurs certainly need a goalkeeper, with Hugo Lloris out of contract in June and Pierluigi Gollini doing little to show why he deserves a permanent deal.
The Telegraph report that Antonio Conte has identified Pickford, with Everton potentially having to sell. Financial Fairplay is impacting the Toffees – and they want a profit on the £25million he cost. Spurs fans had their say.
