Allan Saint-Maximin was dejected on Sunday afternoon as Newcastle United suffered a dismal 4-0 defeat to Leicester City at the King Power – and Liverpool fans are urging their club to sign the Frenchman.

Saint-Maximin, 24, failed to provide the difference on Sunday as a lacklustre Newcastle were hammered by Leicester – who were far from full strength. Jamie Vardy remained an unused substitute.

While Newcastle now have a huge of influx of cash, they lack the current players or belief to get themselves out of the relegation battle. Saint-Maximin could be thinking of pastures new.

CalcioMercato reported recently that Liverpool were taking a look at the ex-Nice ace. The Reds need cover for Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, and £20million (Sky Sports) Saint-Maximin might be the ideal player to bring in.

Liverpool lack the necessary quality to replace Salah and Mane when they represent their countries at the African Cup of Nations. Diogo Jota, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi are good – but not great.

What are Liverpool fans saying about Newcastle star Saint-Maximin?

Having watched the Newcastle star struggle for the Toon against Leicester – a performance that was easily the worst during Eddie Howe’s reign – Liverpool fans discussed Saint-Maximin on Twitter.

Many Reds fans are desperate to sign Saint-Maximin and save him from the despair or a relegation fight with Newcastle. Whether a January move is at all possible, remains to be seen.
