Liverpool fans discuss Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin, after Anfield display

Allan Saint-Maximin impressed at Anfield on Thursday night despite Liverpool easing past the Frenchman’s Newcastle side 3-1. Amid reports the Reds are interested, Liverpool fans discussed Saint-Maximin on Twitter.

Newcastle came into the match in dismal form, having suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to Leicester on Sunday. But against Liverpool at Anfield, Newcastle really put up a fight – scoring first through Jonjo Shelvey.

However, Diogo Jota, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold all found the back of the net for Jurgen Klopp’s side. But it was a much better performance from The Toon, one that will give Eddie Howe confidence.

Before the match, the Toon boss made a surprise selection – dropping Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron. Saint-Maximin started up front for the Toon, before eventually coming off after 79 minutes.

Earlier this year, CalcioMercato said that Liverpool were battling Rafa Benitez’s Everton – and one of Benitez’s old sides in Chelsea for Saint-Maximin. The Mail rate Saint-Maximin at a whopping £70million.

It is well-documented that Liverpool need to make signings in January, to cover the imminent departure of both Salah and Sadio Mane. Both will be jetting off to represent Egypt and Senegal at the African Cup of Nations.

Saint-Maximin might just be the ideal man to bring in as cover for the Liverpool duo. Many Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to his display, urging Jurgen Klopp to sign the French ace in January.
