Liverpool fans discuss Kostas Tsimikas display against Leicester

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the performance of Kostas Tsimikas after the Reds suffered a frustrating defeat to Leicester City on Tuesday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have handed Manchester City the initiative in the Premier League title race. Liverpool conceded the only goal of the game during the second-half.

Kasper Schmeichel was arguably the best player on the pitch. He saved Mohamed Salah’s penalty, and made another world-class stop from the Egyptian during the first-half. But Liverpool were still some way off being at their best at the King Power Stadium.

In fact, only a handful of players emerged with any sort of credit. Virgil van Dijk received some praise. And Tsimikas was another who the fans felt could hold his head up high despite the result.

The 25-year-old made his first start in the Premier League since the win over Arsenal in November with Andy Robertson suspended. He had previously won every game he had started for the Reds.

Unfortunately, that run is now over. However, plenty of Liverpool fans suggested that he did enough to impress. No player made a greater number of key passes, according to Whoscored. Only Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip completed more passes in total.

Several Liverpool supporters insisted that Tsimikas was their best player on the night. And clearly, that is a huge boost for the Reds with Robertson setting the bar so high in recent years.
