Liverpool fans discuss Kessie after Anfield showing, Reds reportedly tabled an offer in the summer
Liverpool came from behind to beat AC Milan on Wednesday night at Anfield – but Reds fans were impressed with Milan’s Franck Kessie.
Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mo Salah and Jordan Henderson proved to be enough for the Reds – despite a first-half Milan revival.
Croatian star Ante Rebic cancelled out Alexander-Arnold’s opener, before Brahim Diaz put Milan 2-1 ahead. Salah made it 2-2.
Henderson scored the winner as Liverpool dominated much of the match, but allowed Milan back into the game on the counter attack.
Kessie, 24, lasted the entire 90 minutes as his current contract difficulties rumble on. His current deal is due to expire in June 2022.
Kessie to Liverpool: What are Reds fans saying about midfielder?
A report from CalcioMercato claims Kessie has turned down Milan’s offer of £82,000 a week – a five-year deal which would increase in the latter years.
Italian outlet Milan Live claim Liverpool tabled an offer of £115,000 a week for Kessie in the summer. But his future remains up for debate.
Liverpool could do with another option in midfield, having lost Gini Wijnaldum. Kessie’s 20-21 stats certainly make him an impressive addition.
He scored 14 goals, and laid on six assists for Milan. On a free, the 44-time Ivory Coast international would be an adequate addition at Anfield.
Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to Kessie and his display on Merseyside. One fan thinks the Reds should replace Naby Keita with Kessie.
