A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the performance of Curtis Jones after the Reds claimed a 3-0 victory over Brentford on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have moved back into second in the Premier League table. And they have a game in hand to potentially cut the 11-point gap to Manchester City at the summit.

The Bees more than played their part in a six-goal thriller in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign. On that occasion, Jones scored Liverpool’s third with a brilliant goal before the home side bagged a late equaliser.

‘Played a very good game’

The 20-year-old has had a difficult time with injury this season. Sunday marked his first Premier League start for Liverpool since their draw with Brighton back in October.

Ultimately, it proved to be a positive day for Liverpool. Fabinho broke the deadlock before the break. And it was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Takumi Minamino who made the points safe in the second-half.

Fabinho was certainly the star of the show for a somewhat depleted Liverpool side. But plenty of supporters felt that Jones deserved a lot of credit for his performance against Thomas Frank’s men.

Jones appears to be a player who does not completely unite the Anfield fanbase. However, the large majority were full of praise for his display at the weekend.

He was always willing to try and drive the side forward. Jones managed more than double the number of attempted dribbles of any of his teammates.

It did not always work. But again, no player, on either side, could match his tally of successful runs either.

There is an excitement about what Jones could do if he can stay fit. And many felt that he was one of the best performers on a good day for the Reds.
