Liverpool fans bemoan 26-year-old not coming on vs Brentford

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to question Jurgen Klopp for the decision to not bring Takumi Minamino on during the Reds’ draw with Brentford on Saturday.

What’s the story?

Liverpool had to settle for a point against the Bees. They initially went behind before then going on to take the lead twice themselves.

But Thomas Frank’s men equalised with eight minutes remaining. And that proved to be the end of the scoring.

Klopp only made one substitution during the contest. Roberto Firmino replaced Curtis Jones with 22 minutes left.

The decision would have upset many, with plenty feeling that Jones was excellent against the newly-promoted side.

However, there was another call Klopp made that did not sit too well with several of the fans on social media.

Heading into the game, Minamino had staked a claim for a chance with a superb brace against Norwich in the Carabao Cup.

However, the Japan international remained on the bench on Saturday – even after the Reds conceded the game’s sixth goal to throw away the lead.

It means that Minamino is still awaiting the chance to make his first Premier League appearance for Liverpool since returning from his loan spell at Southampton.

He has been an unused substitute in all but one of the Reds’ league games so far.

And the supporters simply cannot understand what he has to do to get a chance, particularly with several feeling that Sadio Mane was under-par in the capital.
