Liverpool were dominant in a massive 5-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford – but Reds fans still had praise for David De Gea on Twitter.
It was an utter mis-match as in-form Liverpool swept aside a tactically-inept Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were utterly embarrassed.
Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford have been criticised for a lack of work rate – allowing Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson space.
But ultimately, Liverpool were head and shoulders above United all over the pitch – not least in the form of Mo Salah, who netted a superb hat-trick.
Salah also laid on an assist, setting up Naby Keita to score his third goal of the season. It was his second in two games after a volley at Atletico Madrid.
Jota – who labelled Salah as “unreal” after the match – was also on the score sheet. He tapped home Alexander-Arnold’s low cross to make it two.
It was Alexander-Arnold who played his part in De Gea earning praise from Reds fans. His rasping effort produced a wonderful save from the Spaniard.

Liverpool fans applaud Manchester United man De Gea, after save
It was a brilliant bit of goalkeeping. A genuine surprise not to see the England right-back’s stunning strike not nestle in the back of the net.
Ultimately, if you could pick one Manchester United player for praise following the 5-0 drubbing – it would be the man who conceded five times.
Liverpool fans were in disbelief at £17million (Guardian) man De Gea for his save – with one fan labelling him “class, still”.
