Liverpool fans all send strong message about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s display in 2-2 draw vs Manchester United

Anfield was witness to a dramatic 2-2 draw between Liverpool and Manchester United.

Heading into the contest, Arne Slot seemed destined to do the double over United.

However, Lisandro Martinez opened the scoring for Manchester United and while Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah put Liverpool into the lead, Amad Diallo scored a late equaliser to rescue a well-earned point for the visitors.

Trent Alexander-Arnold had a game to forget against the Red Devils, who constantly targeted his side to cause the hosts plenty of problems.

Alexander-Arnold will not join Real Madrid before the end of the season but he has constantly been linked with a move to the Spanish capital, with his head seeming turned by the nature of his uncharacteristically poor performance.

The Englishman was the weak link for Liverpool defensively as the likes of Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes wreaked havoc by targeting his side with incisive passes and direct dribbles.

Liverpool fans rage at Trent Alexander-Arnold’s poor display vs Manchester United

Liverpool fans were quick to point out how disappointing Alexander-Arnold’s display against Manchester United was.

A Reds supporter wrote on X: “I know I often exaggerate on here, but given the circumstances, that Trent Alexander-Arnold performance was one of the worst I’ve seen from a Liverpool player. Ever.”

Another Liverpool fan chimed in by claiming that if Alexander-Arnold played like that in such a massive game for Real Madrid, he would be getting widespread criticism

“I know tonight was a rarity for Trent but if he puts in performances like that at Madrid in a game as big as that, he’s getting absolutely crucified, especially given his predecessor would be [Dani] Carvajal.”

A third Liverpool supporter claimed if Alexander-Arnold continues performing like he did against Ruben Amorim’s side, he will struggle if he signs for Real Madrid.

“Imagine Trent at Madrid, he’d get bullied off the pitch every game.”

Another Liverpool fan wrote: “By the way, Trent deserves to get all criticism for his performance. It’s not okay to start abusing him but he absolutely should be heavily criticized for today because that was honestly his worst performance in a while.”

A fifth Reds fan joked: “To Trent’s credit, he’s doing absolutely everything in his power to get Madrid to withdraw the bid.”

A Liverpool fan stated that he wishes for Alexander-Arnold to be dropped until his contract situation is sorted out.

“Maybe I’m overreacting but I don’t want Trent anywhere near our starting eleven until his contract situation is sorted. I’m disgusted by what I’ve seen tonight.”

A seventh Liverpool fan stated Conor Bradley outperformed Alexander-Arnold during his cameo.

“Conor Bradley doing more than Trent did in entire match.”

Finally, an eight Liverpool supporter wrote: “Trent playing like he’s already gone.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold stats in Liverpool vs Manchester United

Alexander-Arnold will be gutted to have performed as poorly as he did against Manchester United.

The 26-year-old has had a world-class season but Sunday was a day to forget for him, as the statistics suggest.

Alexander-Arnold was dribbled past twice, made no tackles and failed to win a single duel in what was an appalling defensive display from him.

In possession as well, the Champions League winner lost possession a staggering 25 times, misplacing 14 out of his 60 passes as he was surprisingly sloppy against United.

Ultimately, even elite players can have off days and Alexander-Arnold is no different in this regard.
