Arne Slot demonstrated his ruthless streak again at Liverpool as he substituted Milos Kerkez during the first half against Burnley.
The Reds boss has not been afraid of making the tough decisions, in his first Premier League match at Anfield, he subbed off Jarell Quansah at half-time against Ipswich Town.
Kerkez went into referee Michael Oliver’s book for simulation after he took a heavy touch in the opposition penalty area and threw himself to the ground.
Turf Moor rang out in boos every time the Hungarian touched the ball and once he gave away another foul on the halfway line and Slot wasted no time in replacing the full-back with Andy Robertson.

Liverpool fans are disappointed with Milos Kerkez
It is safe to say that Liverpool supporters are extremely disappointed in their new full-back and feel Kerkez has a lot to learn before he is ready to be an undisputed starter for the Reds.
One supporter wrote on X: “I know it’s very early in the season to judge, but Kerkez looks like a mistake so far. Robbo has looked decent straight away.”
“Being taken off 36 minutes in is really bad. Kerkez has a lot to work on. Too hot-headed and had made some really odd decisions,” another wrote.
Hungary fans were underwhelmed by Kerkez during the 3-2 loss against Portugal during the international break, and it appears he has brought his form for his country back to the Premier League.
Another supporter wrote: “Kerkez is giving strong Nunez vibes here with none of the redeeming qualities. I’m not surprised he’s getting subbed here. Whether Robertson will be better is another issue. Gakpo doesn’t utilize his fullbacks well.”
The 21-year-old did produce a sensational display in the 2-2 draw against the Republic of Ireland, and the quality has been evident thus far in his Anfield career, but the supporters, for the most part, remain unconvinced.
“Kerkez is young, and he’ll learn from mistakes like his dive. It’s daft and cost him his place for the rest of the game.”
“Kerkez subbed on 37 minutes does not reflect well on him, but I entirely rate Slot for doing it. Why take the risk? Hard one to take for him, though,” another said.
While the Liverpool faithful are pleased to see Slot be ruthless in his decision-making, they are hopeful that Kerkez will not be too disheartened from his early substitution.
“Kerkez off. Brutal substitution from Slot. I remember Cole Palmer saying last season that being subbed off in the first half is one of the worst things you can do to a player. Hope this isn’t too deep for Milos mentally. Burnley were clearly going to target him.”
Andy Robertson now has a golden opportunity at Liverpool
The 30-year-old was named the new vice captain for the Reds, taking over from the duties left by his former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.
However, he has begun the season on the bench while Kerkez has started all four Premier League fixtures so far.
Robertson was lauded by Scottish media over the international break as he rolled back the years for his country.
Indeed, Robertson may not be the same player who was so influential under Jurgen Klopp, but he still has a lot to offer this Liverpool side, and now he has the perfect opportunity to reclaim his starting berth from Kerkez.
