Liverpool might be on the lookout for their next great midfielder but the Reds will never pass up the chance to sign any top player in Europe.
The Reds have been one of the most successful clubs on the continent in recent times and that has seen them attract some star names to Anfield. The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Thiago Alcantara, and now Darwin Nunez have all opted to sign for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Of course, the focus on the Reds now is very much on their midfield. With injuries stacking up and certain players likely having seen their best days come and go, Klopp and FSG are under pressure from fans to strengthen. However, while a midfielder is a must, Liverpool might also use links within their squad to sign another top young defender in Jurrien Timber.

Certainly, given this weekend’s comments from current Liverpool star and Dutch teammate Van Dijk, there would seem to be a door open for the Reds here.
Van Dijk Can Tempt Timber To Liverpool
The Liverpool centre-back has played with Timber for the Netherlands during the international break and had high praise for his teammate.
“I wasn’t nearly as far along as he is now. I have nothing but praise for him. He is a great player and a true professional. He has so much potential. Hopefully he can develop further,” Van Dijk told VI.
Of course, Liverpool would be beating off competition from their big Premier League rivals in lining up a move for Timber. Chelsea and Tottenham have been linked with a move for him in the past, while Manchester United are known to be admirers and have their own link through Erik ten Hag.
For Liverpool, this might be a chance to seal another top European defender though. Yes, Timber penned fresh terms recently. But Ajax have shown they’ll sell if clubs meet their asking prices. And what better way for Timber to learn the Premier League ropes than by playing alongside mentor and fan, Van Dijk.

So, while midfield remains a key area. the idea of a backline with both Timber and Ibou Konate featuring is something for Reds fans to be excited about when Van Dijk eventually hits that decline later in his career.
