Liverpool are among a cluster a teams in the mix to try and sign Real Betis and La Liga wonderkid Assane Diao, according to reports.
A report from Mucho Deporte today claims that Diao is a wanted man over in England. Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle are suggested as possible destinations.
In the report, it’s suggested those three teams have indeed sounded out and made initial moves as they bid to take Diao from Betis.

The 18-year-old is thought to be one of La Liga’s best up and coming young players and is already featuring regularly for the Spanish outfit.
Mucho Deporte claims that Betis have agreed either sell Diao or double his money, if an offer of around £13m comes in. The winger has a release-clause of £26m, but Betis are trying to get him to renegotiate that deal with a higher clause.
Liverpool could make move to sign Assane Diao
Clearly, Diao – described as a ‘wonderkid‘ already – is a player who a lot of the world is watching after his impact with Real Betis.
The teenager is obviously excelling already and it’s already looking nailed on that he will get a move to one of Europe’s elite clubs at some point.
Of course, Liverpool are always on the lookout for exciting wide players and with Mo Salah set to leave at some point in the not too distant future, it’s vital the Reds look to forward plan.
With regards to Diao, he’s clearly not the finished article just yet and there is plenty of scope for improvement.
However, he is already showing signs of being a top player at the highest level and the fact is if you are only 18 and playing regularly in a top league in Europe, then you must be doing something right.
It will certainly be interesting to see where Diao ends up. And even more interesting to see if Betis do indeed wilt and let him go for that measly £13m price tag.
