Lisandro Martinez has lauded one of Ruben Amorim’s summer signings for Manchester United after the Red Devils drew with Leeds United in their pre-season opener on Saturday.

Manchester United’s first pre-season match was a drab one for supporters, with little to write home about, but it was an opportunity to see some new signings in action.

Both Diego Leon and Matheus Cunha debuted for the Red Devils, on a day where Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United was also all but confirmed to be joining the club. But one shone out among the rest – and that man was former Wolverhampton Wanderers star, Cunha.

He only played 45 minutes in a red (well, white) shirt – but has already made a lasting impression on supporters, and some teammates.

Taking to Instagram, Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez commented on Cunha’s latest Instagram post, with the message: “Sos un toro”, which translates in English to “You are a bull”.

This is a Spanish phrase often used to describe someone who is strong, powerful, or brave – and that was exactly what the Brazilian was like in his first Red Devils cameo.

Cunha managed 26 touches in his first appearance and boasted a 92% pass completion rate with 11 completed passes.

Aside from the statistics, every time he got the ball, he looked to drive forward, which was a sight to behold for Manchester United supporters.

Matheus Cunha sends message to Manchester United fans

The post itself that Licha commented on was a message to United fans.

Cunha wrote: “Blessed! What a feeling to wear this shirt and have my first minutes with the boys, hungry for more. Thank you.”

You can’t help but think this man is going to be integral to Amorim’s season at United. Cunha lit up the Premier League at Molineux – can he do the same at Old Trafford?
