Liam Cooper send six-word message to Leeds teammate after Thursday news

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has sent a heartfelt six-word message on Twitter to teammate Patrick Bamford, who signed a new contract to stay at Elland Road on Thursday.

The Whites have announced on their official website that Bamford has penned a fresh five-year deal to stay with them until 2026.

Bamford, 27, has been at the heart of the Yorkshire club’s success during the past two years.

Firstly, the centre-forward played a big role in securing promotion from the Championship during the 2019/20 season. He then followed that with a superb individual campaign last year in the Premier League, finishing up with 17 goals and eight assists in the top flight.

He’s an ever-present in Marcelo Bielsa’s XI because he offers so much on and off the ball.

Leeds defender Cooper reacted to news of Bamford’s new deal with a kind message:

“Nothing more than you deserve mate,” he wrote on Twitter.

Patrick Bamford contract is certainly deserved

Bamford had to deal with stick from plenty during his first year as a Leeds player. However, he’s proven so many doubters wrong in the two seasons that followed.

It looks like the 27-year-old is growing as the entire squad does and he’s an integral cog.

The Englishman is so often the catalyst to start the defending with his pressing from the front. His non-stop running for 90 minutes is impressive. Also, there’s notably more confidence from him around the penalty box.

His aim now has to be a key player at Elland Road for the next five years.
