Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart was full of praise for teammate Odsonne Edouard last night after his performance in the win over AZ Alkmaar.
The Hoops beat the Eredivisie side 2-0 at Parkhead to gain a strong advantage in the Europa League play-off qualifier. Kyogo Furuhashi’s opening goal, along with a James Forrest effort that deflected in off Timo Letschert, gave them a positive result in the first leg.
Celtic have a two-goal lead ahead of next week’s second leg in Holland. However, they know they are playing a side that did give them plenty of scares defensively on Wednesday.
Hart believes that French striker Edouard was impactful off the bench during a “really difficult situation” where opponents AZ Alkmaar were competing well.
The 23-year-old came on just shy of the hour mark to add extra energy and an extra presence in attack.
“A huge shout out to Odsonne as well. He came on in a difficult situation tonight and I thought he was superb. He really offered us something,” Hart said.

Latest Odsonne Edouard performance showed real professionalism
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou was able to call on several players off the bench last night when individuals were tiring against AZ Alkmaar.
Edouard put a shift during the final half an hour, which is a credit to his professionalism.
The attacker has been heavily linked with a departure from Glasgow during this summer window, but is still playing for the badge.
According to The Telegraph, Crystal Palace are looking at a possible swoop for Edouard. Also, Premier League clubs Leicester City, West Ham, Brighton and Wolverhampton Wanderers have all monitored him this summer.
