Liverpool’s good run of form continued last night, defeating a stubborn West Ham United team 1-0 at Anfield.

It was a goal from big money new signing Darwin Nunez that decided the contest.

The Uruguayan rose above West Ham’s centre-backs to power a header past Lukasz Fabianski.

It was Nunez’s third Premier League goal this season, after netting on the opening day against Fulham and last week against Arsenal.

There was plenty said about Nunez’s link-up play with his teammates after their win over Manchester City on Sunday.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville criticised Nunez for his decision-making, after he failed to play Mohamed Salah through on goal.

However, Liverpool fans will be hoping to see Nunez link up more with Kostas Tsimikas after his goal last night.

The Greek full-back delivered a wonderful cross to Nunez who headed home.

Nunez sent a message to Tsimikas after the match, praising the £11.7m defender.

Tsimikas took to Instagram after the match to celebrate his side’s win at Anfield.

He posted a shaking hands emoji before tagging Nunez.

Nunez replied to Tsimikas’ post, saying: “Let’s go for more brother.”

The 23-year-old forward started in attack alongside Roberto Firmino for only the second time.

On the previous occasion, they demolished Rangers 7-1, although Salah’s late hat-trick after Nunez had been substituted was responsible for the late flurry of goals.

Klopp said after last night’s match that Liverpool have a ‘massive talent’ on their hands in Nunez.

With Andy Robertson now ready to return to action after his knee injury, Tsimikas may have less opportunities to assist Nunez.

Nunez’s message to Tsimikas last night suggests he’ll be looking forward to the Greek defender’s next appearance whenever that might be.
