Gary Neville slammed ‘frantic’ Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez on Sky Sports today after he squandered an opportunity in the second-half against Manchester City.
Nunez was introduced in the 73rd minute as he replaced Roberto Firmino up-front for the Reds. The Uruguayan was in the thick of the action once again, but showed a lack of composure in-front of goal.
The 23-year-old missed a glorious chance to put Liverpool 2-0 up as he slipped while trying to chip the ball over Ederson.
But before this, Liverpool could have put the game to bed after Diogo Jota won the ball in a dangerous position. Nunez picked it up and had Mohamed Salah to his right and completely unmarked.
But the striker took too long on the ball and eventually saw his shot blocked. And Neville slammed the striker for his decision.

Neville slams Nunez
“It’s not good from Nunez,” Neville said while co-commentating on Sky Sports.
“If he sees him [Salah], he should pass it, it’s not good. If he doesn’t see him, it’s not good because he hasn’t got his head up.
“But he had to play that pass to Mo Salah. He’s just a little frantic and raw, Nunez, when he plays. He needs to slow himself down a little bit in that final third, be a bit more composed.”

It was a poor decision from Nunez but in the end, it didn’t matter as Liverpool held on to pick up a massive three points.
Salah’s brilliant second-half goal secured Jurgen Klopp’s men a massive win at Anfield to round-off an impressive week.
The Egyptian winger outmuscled Cancelo and finished calmly over Ederson from a long pass by Alisson Becker.
Klopp was sent-off at the end of the game after reacting angrily to Salah not being awarded a foul. But the German boss will be delighted with his side’s reaction to a disappointing result at Arsenal last weekend.
