Leeds will announce new Summerville contract today - Romano
Fabrizio Romano has hinted on Twitter that Leeds United will announce a new contract for Crysencio Summerville today, with the winger agreeing terms on a deal until 2026.
Summerville appears set to become the next youngster to commit his future to the Whites. It has been an interesting time for the Dutchman so far at Elland Road.
His ‘unbelievable‘ talent is obvious to see. He has been outstanding for the under-23s in the past. And he has made a handful of first-team appearances for the club.
However, Summerville has probably not featured quite as much as he would like. And Marcelo Bielsa disclosed that the 20-year-old wanted to leave on loan during the January transfer window.
But it seems that he is very much in Jesse Marsch’s plans. Romano reported on Monday that the winger is set to sign a new contract for another four years. And it was suggested that an announcement was imminent.
The journalist has now provided an update, clearly suggesting that the news will become official today…
today will be… official 😉 #LUFC

Leeds will announce Summerville contract today
It will be very interesting to see how Marsch uses Summerville this season. Leeds continue to boast a number of wide players, in the likes of Jack Harrison, Luis Sinisterra and Daniel James.
And they have utilised that width in pre-season. So there definitely appears to be a role for Summerville in the current system.
Perhaps a loan move would not be a bad option for the youngster this season if he is unlikely to play too much. But you could also see him sticking around and getting opportunities throughout the campaign.
Leeds fans will hope that the seemingly-imminent announcement on Summerville is the first of many in the final weeks of the window.
