Leeds United's Tyler Adams broke two World Cup 2022 records during his amazing performance yesterday
Leeds fans would have been closely watching both teams in last night’s game.
However, he was brought off at half-time after failing to make much of an impact, which reflects his season as a whole.
Brenden Aaronson came off the bench for the USA, but couldn’t help his side see out the game and earn a valuable three points.
Adams was the standout Leeds player on the pitch though, and he’s one of his side’s most important players.
The 23-year-old was handed the captain’s armband for the tournament, ahead of the likes of Christian Pulisic.
He put in a leader’s performance in the middle of the pitch and will need to be at the top of his game again when the USA play England on Friday.
Adams the standout player for the USA
Adams won five tackles against Wales, more than any other player has recorded at the World Cup so far.
He also ran 13.1km, which is further than any player has run during a match at the 2022 tournament, while he also managed to play 62 successful passes.
Adams is already one of the first names on Jesse Marsch’s team sheet and has continued that form in Qatar.
The 23-year-old has been impressing his Premier League rivals as well, with Tottenham’s Matt Doherty a fan.
Adams has now shown he can be a standout player on the international stage as well.
Plenty of Leeds fans will be hoping he’s off his game when he comes up against the Three Lions later this week.
