Leeds United reportedly want Josip Brekalo, and he's been compared to Arjen Robben

Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing Croatian star, Josip Brekalo, as Marcelo Bielsa looks to strengthen the ranks this summer.

Reports from Calciomercato last week, as covered by TBR, claim that Leeds want to bring Brekalo to the Premier League. A deal could be done for around £15m, if Wolfsburg are open to selling.

The 23-year-old is known for his pace and directness in wide areas, something which fits in well with how Leeds play under Bielsa.

Bielsa is keen to add new faces this summer. Despite a brilliant season in the Premier League, the legendary coach has informed Victor Orta of the need to strengthen.

And in fairness, it appears that Leeds could do far worse than land Brekalo.

What’s been said?

Brekalo is already a fully fledged international player and has been the star of the show for Wolfsburg in recent times.

And it’s little surprise, given the comparisons to recently retired Dutch star, Arjen Robben. The Bundesliga website made the comparison, suggesting a player who can beat players with ease and chip in with goals.

Further, the site also featured quotes from his former athletics coach, who stated Brekalo could have been a ‘brilliant runner’ had he continued in that walk of life.

Of course, Brekalo has quite the way to go before he reaches Robben levels of quality. However, it’s a nice comparison to have, and Leeds fans will love to see it.
