Leeds fans react as report claims Whites could sign £15.5m-rated winger on loan
Leeds United could reportedly sign Wolfsburg and Croatia wide man Josip Brekalo on loan this summer. A report from CalcioMercato claims that Wolfsburg would santion a loan-to-buy deal – if the permanent clause is worth £15.5million. Leeds fans have responded to the Brekalo report.
Brekalo, 23, was a part of Croatia’s side that limped into the last 16 before losing on penalties to semi-finalists Spain at Euro 2020. It comes after another solid season in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg. Clocking up 29 Bundesliga appearances, Brekalo scored seven and created three more.
A previous report claims that Leeds have taken a look at Brekalo, as have Rafa Benitez’s Everton. But since then, Leeds have completed a permanent deal to sign Jack Harrison from Manchester City. Leeds do have other options, in the form of Raphinha, Helder Costa and Ian Poveda.
What are Leeds fans saying about the Brekalo report?
But Costa’s form during 2020-21 was questionable, while Poveda is still young and learning his trade. Not only that, but Scott McKinstry and Crysencio Summerville are impressing in the 23’s. Noel Whelan recently suggested that Leeds could sell Portugal international Costa.
The new report says that Leeds are still keeping tabs on Brekalo, and that Wolfsburg will accept a loan with a £15.5million clause. Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to have their say on Brekalo and with the terms on the table, many believe he would be a good signing for the Yorkshire club.
