A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that was confirmed by the Spanish national team’s account concerning Diego Llorente.

Leeds are yet to see Llorente in action for the Whites following his summer switch to Elland Road. As noted by BBC Sport, the newly-promoted side paid around £18 million for the centre-back.

He may still be awaiting his debut, but that did not stop Luis Enrique calling the 27-year-old into his Spain squad for this international break. And he started their opening game, which was a friendly with Portugal.

Spain kept a clean sheet. And Llorente’s performance was lauded by a number of Leeds fans on social media. He did a superb job of keeping Cristiano Ronaldo pretty quiet in Lisbon.

He was not involved against Switzerland on Saturday. But that has not prevented Llorente from being dealt a setback.

Spain confirmed on Twitter that the former Real Sociedad man has suffered a muscle injury. It is suggested that he will not be involved against Ukraine on Tuesday.

Unsurprisingly, the news has not gone down well amongst Leeds supporters. It remains to be seen how serious the problem is. But it has angered many of those who feel that the international break and Nations League should have been scrapped amid the current circumstances.

‘Just typical Leeds’

They are obviously hoping that the problem is not too serious. He may be having to bide his time waiting for an opportunity at Leeds. But his most recent performance hinted that he was ready to put pressure on Liam Cooper and Robin Koch.

So it is a potential blow for Leeds ahead of their first game back in the Premier League.

Here is how some of the fans have reacted to the news concerning Llorente…
