Leeds lost their opening Championship fixture today but are looking to strengthen the ranks by signing one of Chelsea’s promising youngsters.
Leeds conceded three at home to Portsmouth to mark a disappointing opening day to the 24/25 season and already put Daniel Farke under the microscope among some fans.
Of course, Farke has had to deal with losing the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray this summer.
And with Marseille looking to steal in on their bid for Jonathan Rowe, it looks like being a tricky window in the main for Leeds.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds are among the teams looking to snap up England and Chelsea youth star, Bashir Humphreys.
Leeds looking at signing Bashir Humphreys from Chelsea
Taking to X to provide an update on the situation with Humphreys, Romano has said that Leeds and clubs in Germany are keen to take the Chelsea man.
Humphreys will leave on a permanent or loan deal, with the Blues preferring an outright sale.
Humphreys an ‘outstanding’ talent for Leeds to look at
Bashir Humphrey’s will know full well that he isn’t going to get many chances at Chelsea so the time might be right to move on.
However, this is not a player without experience.
The 21-year-old centre-back did well out on loan last season with Swansea and during that time, he was lauded by Michael Duff for being outstanding.
“I thought Bashir Humphreys was outstanding today, his mentality is great,” he said.
“He was not the only one on the field I could say that about, but for such a young player to be left one v one with someone of Jamie Vardy’s quality and experience was impressive.
“He is quick and makes intelligent runs, so I was very pleased with Bashir today, it was just a pity he was on the wrong end of the score line.”
Leeds, then, could be well be a logical landing spot for Humphreys as both he and the Whites look to develop and kick on this season.
