Leeds transfer: Top-flight rival reportedly join Whites in race to sign 27-year-old international; he wants to stay in PL
Yokuslu is attracting attention after an impressive loan spell in England. He did well for West Brom despite the Baggies failing to keep themselves in the top flight.
West Brom will not be in the top flight next year, but Yokuslu may be.
The report adds that he wants to stay in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Celta Vigo are ready to sell the Turkey international.
Yokuslu could be a shrewd signing for Leeds in the transfer window – but only for the right price
Leeds’ form in the final weeks of the season hints that they may not need a new holding midfielder this summer.
Kalvin Phillips is obviously the fulcrum of the side. But Robin Koch also looked really impressive when asked to play in holding midfield.
So that has arguably taken a little pressure off Victor Orta.
Having said that, Yokuslu could well prove to be a hugely impressive addition – for the right price.
If Celta are prepared to let him go for a reasonable figure, it could be an inspired move from the Whites.
But Palace’s interest may please the La Liga side. It perhaps increases the likelihood of a bidding war starting up.
Leeds arguably do not need to get involved in a bidding war as things stand.
Yokuslu is a very good player. But the Whites have much bigger priorities over the coming months.
And if that means they stand aside as Palace pursue a deal, perhaps it may prove to be the smartest move.
