Leeds reportedly want a player Kyle Bartley raved about earlier this season, labelled him 'tenacious'

Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Celta Vigo midfielder Okay Yokuslu ahead of this summer’s transfer window, after a solid spell on loan at West Brom. While the Baggies were relegated, the Turkey international has clearly left a mark on ex-Leeds man Kyle Bartley.

Yokuslu, 27, clocked up 16 appearances for Sam Allardyce’s side during the second half of the season – after being brought in loan from Celta Vigo. A holding midfielder, the 6ft 3in ace is renowned for his strength and defensive abilities as well as his array of short and long passing.

With West Brom being relegated, though, Yokuslu will return to Spain. He is set to take part in this summer’s European Championships, having been named in Turkey’s 30-man provisional side. Now, Leeds are interested. As covered earlier by TBR Football, Goal say Leeds want him.

The player himself has admitted he is keen on remaining in the Premier League. Back in February, not long after joining, Bartley gave his verdict to West Brom’s official website and was full of praise for the on-loan star. He labelled Yokuslu as “tenacious”, which will surely excite Leeds fans.

“He’s been brilliant,” Bartley said in February. “He seems to have settled in really quickly which is always important for a player at a new club. You can see already that he’s a really good player. He’s tenacious, good on the ball. He’s calm and composed. I hope he can continue the form he has shown in the last two games from now until the end of the season.”

Yokuslu would be ideal for Leeds, as summer transfers go

While a new left-back, a permanent Jack Harrison deal and a number 10 are likely to be areas Leeds target this summer – Yokuslu is also needed. Kalvin Phillips has enjoyed another brilliant season for Leeds, but when he is unavailable, Leeds have really struggled.

The Whites managed to obtain just six points from a possible 27 without Phillips. They need a holding midfielder to cover him, but perhaps one that could also do the six role. Leeds were also poor from set-pieces, so 6ft 3in Yokuslu would be ideal for the Yorkshire club this summer.
