Report: Leeds have opened talks with agent of 'extraordinary' £30m player whose been offered to Liverpool

Leeds United have opened talks with the agent of Mathus Cunha to discuss if there’s a chance he fancies the move to Elland Road.

Cunha is becoming a wanted man in this transfer window as he seeks to move on from Atletico Madrid. Having fallen down the pecking order, Cunha ended up missing out on the Brazil squad for the World Cup. He is expected to seal a departure away from Madrid in January.

A number of clubs are said to be keen. Arsenal are looking at Cunha as a replacement for Gabriel Jesus, while Wolves are thought to be looking to add him to their plethora of foreign imports.

However, Goal has reported this evening that Leeds are the ones who have actually opened talks. Goal claims Leeds are ‘actively in talks’ with the agents of Cunha. They are seeing just how much he fancies the move to Elland Road, amid so much interest.

Labelled an ‘extraordinary‘ talent for his performances up top, Cunha certainly has admirers. Indeed, it was only a week or two ago that reports claimed he’d been offered to Liverpool as well.

A loan move is more likely for Cunha in January, with Atletico seeking at least £30m if they are to sell permanently.

TBR’s View: Cunha could light up Leeds

Leeds definitely need a forward in the ranks who can light Elland Road up. Since selling Raphinha, the West Yorkshire crowd have been missing that South American flair.

Cunha would be the sort of signing to turn some heads in Leeds. This is a player who up until recently was in the Brazil squad and XI quite regularly. Those sorts of players are hard to come by, and Cunha would be a class signing at Leeds.

He does have a lot of options it seems. But the lure of the Leeds support can be powerful and there’s no reason they can’t convince him.
