Leeds United loanee Laurens De Bock would be forgiven for feeling that his loan spell at Sunderland was vitally important for his career.
De Bock is yet to make an appearance for Leeds since Marcelo Bielsa arrived last summer. So his switch to the Stadium of Light seemed to present the left-back with a chance to put himself in the shop window.

And with the Black Cats amongst the favourites for promotion out of League One, a move to Sunderland looked to be one that could prove to be perfect for De Bock as he looks to get his career back on track.
However, after just three appearances for the club, De Bock is having to cope with more uncertainty. That is because Sunderland have announced on their official website that manager Jack Ross has left the club.

The news comes after a 2-0 defeat to Lincoln City at the weekend. De Bock endured a torrid afternoon, and was criticised by some fans who watched the game.
He gave away a penalty – that was subsequently missed – and both of Lincoln’s goals came from attacks down Sunderland’s left flank.
De Bock will now be waiting to find out who the next manager is going to be. And he will be hoping that he can secure a regular spot in their plans.
The last thing the defender needs is to find himself out of favour and facing a couple of months on the sidelines before he can potentially think about heading elsewhere in January.
