Leeds United have been offered the chance to sign Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi, TBR Football can exclusively reveal.

Daniel Farke’s Leeds side are currently on the hunt for a new number nine to lead their cause in the Premier League.

And Leeds have now been presented with the opportunity to sign 33-year-old Mehdi Taremi, who has a wealth of experience at the top level.

As well as scoring 56 goals in 94 games for Iran, Taremi has scored 91 goals for FC Porto and he’s also been an effective option for Inter since joining last year.

Taremi didn’t feature in May’s Champions League final for Inter, but he did provide an assist in the club’s win over Barcelona in the second leg of their semi-final.

That being said, chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Leeds do have some interest in Taremi after learning about his availability.

TBR Football recently revealed that Leeds had been offered Aleksandar Mitrovic owing to his uncertain future in the Saudi Pro League, and there are seemingly plenty of options on the table for Farke’s men.

Sharing the exclusive news, Bailey said: “Leeds have been offered the chance to sign Mehdi Taremi from Inter Milan and it’s not one they’re totally discounting.

“He’s a high-calibre player and he’s available, Inter want to move him on because then they can have another go at signing Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United.

“So in an odd way, Leeds could actually help their rivals out.

“In actual fact, I’m surprised that Leeds haven’t gone in strong for Josh Sargent, I really am. Is that one to totally discount? Maybe not. I think Leeds are waiting for the window to come to them somewhat.

“I do think there’s interest in Taremi, they know he’s a good striker, and they’ll have advice from Red Bull. Leeds have one of the best scouting networks in the world available to them now.”

Clarence Seedorf called Mehdi Taremi ‘underrated’ at Inter Milan

Whilst Leeds fans might not be too thrilled about the prospect of potentially helping rivals Manchester United in their efforts to sell Rasmus Hojlund, Taremi could prove a useful option in the Premier League.

And it was only a few months ago that footballing legend Clarence Seedorf hailed the striker as ‘underrated’.

Speaking on TNT Sports’ Champions League coverage, Seedorf said: “I’d like to praise Mehdi Taremi.

“He was attacking, defending, and he even won one against Lamine Yamal. He really made a difference. Mehdi has been underrated here [at Inter] all year.”

It remains to be seen if Leeds decide to pursue the chance to sign the experienced striker.

But it doesn’t necessarily seem as if there’s any rush at Elland Road to make a decision on a striker, with Joel Piroe and Lukas Nmecha on hand to lead the line.
