Leeds have talked about signing ‘unbelievable’ striker but only if Rodrigo Muniz deal collapses

Leeds United are very keen to sign Rodrigo Muniz this summer.

The Lilywhites are back in the Premier League, and their primary aim in the upcoming campaign will be to avoid going straight back down.

Daniel Farke’s side have strengthened their squad already in this window, but they need more help in the next few weeks to give themselves the best chance of surviving.

A new striker is the priority, and Muniz is in Leeds’ sights. But if they can’t get him, they have discussed signing another Premier League forward.

Leeds United have discussed signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin if they can’t sign Rodrigo Muniz

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is available as a free agent.

The England international left Everton at the end of his contract in July, and he has been linked with quite a few clubs over the last two months.

TBR Football confirmed exactly a month ago that Leeds have held talks with Calvert-Lewin, and their interest has not gone away.

However, Farke’s side will only consider signing the ‘unbelievable‘ former Everton man on one condition.

Ben Jacobs has revealed that Fulham star Rodrigo Muniz is Leeds’ top striker target this summer – he is the one they want to sign.

Only if that move doesn’t materialise will they consider signing Calvert-Lewin.

Jacobs tweeted: “Rodrigo Muniz is still Leeds’ top striker target. No agreement with Fulham yet, but Leeds haven’t given up hope.

“Understand Dominic Calvert-Lewin is another name discussed in case Muniz isn’t possible.”

Muniz and Calvert-Lewin are both interesting options.

The Fulham star is much younger, has a higher ceiling and will cost more, while Calvert-Lewin is older, more experienced and will be available on a free transfer.

As the table shows above, Muniz feels like the safer bet for Leeds, and they are right to make him their priority striker target.

However, Calvert-Lewin is not a bad option as a backup, and on a free transfer, he could prove to be a very shrewd signing if Leeds can keep him fit.
