Leeds fans want Manchester United ace amid reports
Leeds United have reportedly reignited interest in Manchester United speed machine Daniel James. The Wales international could be allowed to leave Old Trafford following the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. Leeds fans have reacted to the potential signing of James.
James, 23, is well-known to Leeds fans. Many will remember his move to the Yorkshire club back in January 2019, a season in which Leeds finished in the play-offs but lost to Derby under Marcelo Bielsa. As seen on the Amazon Prime documentary, James comes within an inch of signing.
The Wales international passes a medical and even poses with a Leeds shirt that has his name, and the number 21 on the back. But Swansea changed their asking price at the last minute and refused to budge. Six months later, he joined Manchester United for a fee north of £15million.
What are Leeds fans saying about James?
Hitting the ground running, he ended 2019-20 with four goals and seven assists in 46 games – a pretty poor record. Last season, he only managed 26 appearances – completing 90 minutes on just seven occasions. Now, with Sancho, £45,000-a-week (Spotrac) winger James might need to leave.
A report from the Scottish Daily Mail (print, 11/07, p129) says Leeds remain keen on James. What are Leeds fans saying about the potential of finally getting James at Elland Road? Well, it is clear that the majority are all for the idea – with the belief Bielsa can improve the ex-Swansea man.
