Report: Leeds reignite interest in £45k-a-week PL star; Orta and Radrizzani know him well

Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing Welsh international Dan James once again.

According to the print edition of the Scottish Mail on Sunday (p129: 11/07), Marcelo Bielsa’s side are tracking the Manchester United star’s situation with the club.

The Red Devils have recently confirmed an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the signing of Jadon Sancho. And this blockbuster signing could force James out of the club.

Moreover, Leeds seem to be keen on the former Swansea City star. The Yorkshire side came inches away from signing the winger two years ago.

Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani were close to signing James in January 2019. The player even posed for pictures with the Leeds shirt and was assigned a kit number.

However, a disagreement between Swansea owners and their chairman regarding the structure of the deal meant Leeds ran out of time to complete the transfer. James moved to United five months later.

James, who earns £45,000-a-week according to Spotrac, has been a solid player for United since moving in 2019. But the Wales international is yet to nail down a starting role for the club.

And with Sancho now joining this summer, the 23-year-old attacker could be on the market two years after making the move to the Premier League giants.

And with Leeds now reportedly interested in James for a second time, Elland Road could finally become the attacker’s new home after coming so close to being a Bielsa player.
