Plenty of Leeds United fans took to Twitter after Brighton and Hove Albion announced on their official website that they have made their second signing of the summer.

The Whites are going into the early stages of the window desperately hoping that there is still some chance that Ben White can be brought back to Elland Road.

Unfortunately, they have, so far, been given little reason for encouragement. Graham Potter recently insisted, in comments reported by the Daily Mail, that he has no intention of selling the 22-year-old.

And while White’s subsequent Instagram post this week seemed to provide little clarity on his future, the responses from the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper arguably looked more like parting messages.

But Leeds fans are hoping that they have now received reason for encouragement.

Brighton have confirmed on their official website that they have signed Joel Veltman from Ajax. The 28-year-old is capable of playing at centre-back.

Understandably, the Brighton supporters seemed to feel that the deal could prove to be an inspired piece of business. But their excitement appears to have been matched by some of the Leeds fans.

Many responded to the announcement by expressing their hope that Veltman’s arrival may leave the door a little more open for White to be lured away this summer.

It would be a surprise if Brighton’s stance had changed. But with a little more depth in that area, perhaps they may be more willing to consider a ridiculous offer for the youngster.

Here is how some of the supporters reacted to the announcement…
