Leeds United supporters would be forgiven for fearing that they may have seen Ben White’s final appearance for the club after his post on Instagram prompted emotional responses from the likes of Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips.
White enjoyed an outstanding year on loan at Elland Road. He played a crucial role in Leeds United winning the Championship title, and it was fitting that he opened the scoring on the final day with a stunning volley from the edge of the box.
Leeds fans will be desperately hoping to see the club keep White on a permanent basis. But it always looked set to be an uphill battle with Brighton likely to want to keep the player.
Graham Potter has already suggested that he plans to include White in his plans next season (via Daily Mail).
And the youngster has now taken to social media to reach out to those at Leeds…

Having had some time to reflect on what has been the most incredible season I wanted to take the time to thank everyone associated with Leeds United Football Club, including the incredible supporters. No matter what happens from here I will never forget the way you took me in and treated me as one of your own from day one. These memories and experiences will be with me forever. #MOT
TBR View: Responses drop potential hint on White’s future
White’s post does not allude to what his future entails. But the responses from the likes of Cooper and Phillips certainly hint that they are not expecting to be playing alongside the 22-year-old next season.
Phillips’s message, in particular, comes across as being particularly emotional…
A number of Leeds teammates have joined the pair in reacting to White’s post, including Ryan Edmondson and Pascal Struijk.
Of course, some supporters may hold out some hope that there is a twist to come during the transfer window.
But with Potter’s comments in mind, White’s post along with the responses from Cooper and Phillips certainly suggest that Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta will have to focus on trying to replace the defender during the coming weeks.
