Leeds fans react on Twitter to Jesse Lingard reports

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports disclosing what Manchester United are open to selling Jesse Lingard for in the January transfer window – with many urging Andrea Radrizzani to sanction a bid.

Lingard has had an interesting time over the last 12 months. Heading into the previous January window, it appeared that his career at the highest level was fizzling out.

West Ham decided to take him on loan as they pushed for a top four spot. And he went on to prove to be an amazing signing for David Moyes’s side.

He scored nine times in the Premier League. His form helped Lingard regain a spot in the England fold. And it also seemed to hand his Manchester United career a lifeline.

As reported by The Sun, West Ham failed to sign him permanently with his asking price in the summer set at £25 million.

Unfortunately for Lingard, life back at Old Trafford has not been easy. He is yet to start in the Premier League. In total, he has been on the pitch for little over an hour in the top flight.

And with that, another January move could well be on the cards for the attacking midfielder. His contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the campaign. So the winter window could present their final chance to receive any sort of fee.

The Sun reports that they will consider offers of £10 million. West Ham remain admirers, while Manchester United hope that Newcastle also enter the race.

They believe that the Magpies joining the running would also drive the price up.

The reports have actually caught the attention of plenty of Leeds fans on social media.

Many believe that he would be an inspired addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s side in what could be a hugely important window for the Whites.

Leeds are currently on the periphery of the relegation scrap right now. There were promising signs before the international break. But they have only beaten Watford and Norwich so far.

One of their biggest problems has been turning their chances into goals. The likes of Rodrigo, Dan James and Jack Harrison were wasteful in the 1-1 draw with Leicester.

There are reasons for optimism. Rodrigo has scored twice in recent weeks. And he has impressed in the number 10 role. They also have Patrick Bamford to come back from injury. And Joe Gelhardt has shown what a frightening talent he is.

But many feel that getting Lingard for just £10 million is an opportunity that is too good to turn down. And thus, they have implored Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta to make a move.

‘This would be a right steal’

Tyler Roberts has struggled to be the game-changer Leeds have needed off the bench in that area of the field.

Lingard – who earns £75,000-a-week – has proved that he is a game-changer. And at that price, it seems a no-brainer.

With that in mind, here is what some of the Leeds fans make of the latest reports on Lingard…
