Leeds fans react as reports claim Orta turned down chance to sign Tottenham star on loan this summer

Leeds reportedly chose to turn down the chance to sign Tottenham star Harry Winks on loan this summer – and Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter.

The reports come after Andrea Radrizzani responded to a Leeds fan, when asked if the club would be signing a midfielder. He replied “Adam Forshaw”.

Winks, 25, has been in and out of the Tottenham side over the course of the past 12 months. Under Jose Mourinho, he dropped out of the starting XI.

That was after Tottenham brought Denmark international Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to the club. He only got 30 appearances during 2020-21.

He featured in just 15 of Tottenham’s 38 Premier League games. So, little surprise, that Winks is being linked with a summer exit from Tottenham.

What do Leeds fans think of Tottenham star Winks?

Stretty News rate Winks at £25million, with Manchester United linked with the England international earlier in the window. Now, Leeds are linked.

Indeed, Phil Hay reports in The Athletic that the Whites were offered the chance to sign Winks on loan. But Leeds chose to turn down the move.

The Whites do need midfielders. Lewis O’Brien of Huddersfield has been linked, while reports claim Conor Gallagher underwent a medical at Leeds.

However, the Chelsea midfielder chose to join Crystal Palace on loan instead. Despite all that, Leeds decided against the loan signing of Winks.

Now, Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to reports that they could have got Winks – and many are delighted that the club thought better of signing him.
