Leeds United turned down the chance to sign Harry Winks on loan this summer, the Athletic have reported.
Winks rejected
Winks has fallen out of favour at Tottenham Hotspur this term, and it seems that a loan move to Elland Road was a possibility for the 25-year-old.
However, Leeds felt that they didn’t need Winks to bolster their midfield.
Leeds have tried to strengthen in that area, but it appears that they have doubts over whether Winks is the right player for them.
That is understandable, given that the Spurs man doesn’t actually feel a natural fit.
While Winks is a fine passer of the ball, he may not quite have the requisite physical qualities to thrive in a side managed by Marcelo Bielsa.
Can Winks break back into Spurs plans?
Winks could yet have a chance of breaking back into Tottenham’s team this season too.
The England international started last night’s game against Pacos De Ferreira, and he caught the eye as Nuno’s men picked up a 3-0 win.

Leeds, meanwhile, have stayed relatively quiet throughout the transfer window so far.
Bielsa’s side have done minimal business, and the Athletic suggest that Elland Road is unlikely to be busy in the last few days of the transfer window, with Leeds seemingly being very picky with potential additions this summer.
