Report: Mourinho wants Leeds and Everton-linked Josip Brekalo
Leeds United and Everton may have to see off competition from Jose Mourinho if they want to sign Josip Brekalo, with Tuttomercatoweb reporting that Roma and Lille are keen on the attacker.
Brekalo has enjoyed an outstanding campaign with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. He has scored seven goals and contributed three assists for Oliver Glasner’s men, who have secured their spot in next season’s Champions League.
The Daily Express reported last week that both the Whites and Everton want the 22-year-old, who is also being tracked by Bayern Munich and Napoli.
Interestingly, Tuttomercatoweb reports that Mourinho likes the Croatia international. They also suggest that Lille have been in contact with the starlet.
TBR View: Familiar battle could be ahead for Leeds
Based on the two reports, it would appear that Lille are currently making the strongest case to sign Brekalo.
That may leave Leeds coming up against a familiar rival should they make their own move.
But it was the Ligue 1 side who ultimately secured his signature.
David has since scored 12 top flight goals for the league leaders. So it will be interesting to see if that factors in Leeds’ thinking if they are weighing up a possible move for Brekalo.
