Leeds fans react as club reportedly beating Atletico Madrid in £3.5m race
Leeds United reportedly want to sign Huesca left-back Javi Galan this summer. The Spaniard starred for his club, scoring against Real Madrid. But after Huesca were relegated – he is likely to leave. Leeds fans have reacted to a new report, which claims Atletico Madrid are also keen on Galan..
Galan, 26, was named in WhoScored’s La Liga Team of the Season for his performances for Huesca. Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema and Kieran Trippier were also included. Galan was only one of three players that were included by WhoScored that do not play for Spain’s big three clubs.
It comes after a marauding season down the left flank, in which he only missed one game. However, he could now leave after relegation and on the cheap, too. Mundo Deportivo report that Leeds are leading Atletico Madrid in the race for Galan. His release clause? Just £3.5million.
What are Leeds fans saying about the new Galan report?
Clearly, Leeds need a new left-back. Getting one of the best players in Spanish football would be a coup in itself – but to land him for just £3.5million is incredible business. Can Leeds really convince Galan to move countries and join the Whites – when Atletico Madrid are interested?
Well, Galan would probably struggle to start for Diego Simeone’s side. Atletico boast Renan Lodi who is the club’s first choice left-sided defender, while Trippier can do a job there too. They need a left-back but as cover. So, Leeds have a chance – given they will inform Galan he is first choice.
