Leeds are reportedly battling Wolves to sign Reading midfielder John Swift in the January window – and Leeds fans are desperate to see him signed.
Swift, 26, has been on fire for Reading this season. Clocking up 17 appearances for the Royals, he has had a hand in 15 goals for Reading.
His form has been sensational, being given the license to get forward and play as a 10 – rather than being used as a midfielder in a deeper position.
It has seen him score eight goals and create seven more in his 15 games this season. A brilliant run of form that will have clubs taking a look.
That is, because of Swift’s current contractual situation. His deal ends next summer. Non-English sides can sign him on a pre-contract in January.
It also means January presents the last window Reading will get some money for him – with Swift now unlikely to renew his current Reading deal.
A cut-price fee could be organised in January. The Sheffield Star say Leeds, Wolves and Burnley are said to be interested in signing Swift in January.

What are Leeds fans saying about Reading midfielder Swift?
Leeds could do with another option in midfield. While Adam Forshaw has returned in a new-look 4-2-3-1 system, the Whites do need depth.
That no.10 role is up for grabs. Raphinha is naturally a winger but has been used there, Tyler Roberts is losing the patience of fans. Rodrigo is a striker.
So, Swift could join with a clear shot at starting. Back in February 2020, Marcelo Bielsa raved about Swift – clearly an admirer of the player.
“I value him a lot. He appears suddenly in attack and the same in transition between defence and attack, especially when he passes defence to attack.”
Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that the Whites could look to bring in Swift in the near future – and many think he is a good addition.
