Leeds fans react as club reportedly battling Liverpool for teen, player has dropped Instagram hint
Leeds United are reportedly battling Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton in the race to sign Chelsea teen Lewis Bate. The midfielder has delayed signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge this summer. Leeds fans have taken to Twitter, and are keen to see Bate in a Leeds shirt.
Leeds have already added two new players to Mark Jackson’s promotion-winning Under-23 side, in the form of Amari Miller and Sean McGurk. The second string are set to compete in the top tier of Premier League football during 2020-21. The new signings are likely to come thick and fast.
What have Leeds fans said about Chelsea talent Bate?
The Mail now report that Leeds are one of four Premier League clubs eyeing Bate. An England Under-18 international, Bate is already a regular in Chelsea’s Under-23 side at just 18. Last season, he played 20 of their 24 PL2 games. He even captained the Blues to a 4-1 win over Tottenham in April.
The midfielder has even dropped a hint that he could be on his way to Leeds – by following the entire Leeds squad on Instagram. Now, Leeds fans have had their say on Twitter. Many, having seen clips on YouTube, think he could be an incredible addition. One fan said he is a “young Kalvin Phillips”.
