Beleaguered attacking midfielder Dele Alli has been ‘tipped’ to play a part in Everton’s crucial Premier League clash against Burnley tomorrow night.

Frank Lampard’s Toffees travel to Turf Moor to face Sean Dyche’s Clarets in what could be a pivotal game in the battle to stay in the top-flight.

Everton, who sit in 17th place, are four points above Burnley, but a loss in East Lancashire would see the gap closed to one point with nine Premier League games remaining.

Alli hasn’t started a Premier League game for the Merseysiders since joining on the last day of the January window from Tottenham Hotspur.

After being an unused substitute in the last two games it would be a surprise to see Lampard throw the 25-year-old in from the start.

But with injuries mounting and Donny van de Beek potentially being ruled out, Lampard may place his trust in Alli.

With so much riding on the game for the former Chelsea boss, it’s a huge gamble throwing an out-of-sorts Alli into the mix.

But it could go either way – Lampard could be labelled a genius if Alli proves to be the matchwinner or produces an influential performance, however, if the 37-time England international flounders against a physical Burnley side, then Lampard will have to be prepared to take some stick for his decision.

The Telegraph are reporting that the former MK Dons youngster has been ‘tipped’ to have ‘some involvement’ against fellow strugglers Burnley.

If there was ever a time for Dele Alli to endear himself to the Goodison Park faithful it would be tomorrow night against Burnley.

In the last week, Everton’s number 36 has been heavily criticised by talkSPORT pundits Simon Jordan, who didn’t question Alli’s ‘talent’, and Darren Bent.

But he could be given an opportunity to silence the critics and announce lift off on his Everton career.
