Kylian Mbappe and William Saliba are currently away on international duty with France.

The two players are incredible. Mbappe is arguably the best striker in the world right now, while Saliba is better than almost every other defender in the Premier League.

Both players have been called up to the France national squad by Didier Deschamps for his side’s upcoming games against Germany and Chile.

In training yesterday, Mbappe was spotted teasing Saliba – because of his shoes!

Kylian Mbappe makes fun of Arsenal star Willian Saliba’s boots

Arsenal signed William Saliba from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2019, when Unai Emery was still the manager of the club.

The Frenchman was given no opportunities until the start of last season. He was sent out on loan on three occasions and there was even a feeling that Arsenal could sell him at one point.

However, since making his Gunners debut, Saliba has been one of the best centre-backs in Europe. He has been unbelievable for Arsenal, and if it wasn’t for his injury last season, they would’ve likely won the Premier League title.

Saliba has a great relationship with Kylian Mbappe having known him since they were kids. The two players share a good bond even to this day, and they enjoy making fun of each other.

On Wednesday at Clairefontaine, a conversation between Saliba and Mbappe was caught on camera in a video posted on YouTube by the French Football Federation.

Mbappe didn’t seem too happy with Saliba’s boots because the Arsenal man apparently wears the same ones to training every time.

“I’m going to call Nike, I’m going to call Nike, you always wear the same shoes,” Mbappe can be heard saying as Saliba bursts out laughing.

Mbappe’s dad changed Saliba’s position

William Saliba is among the best defenders in Europe, but the Frenchman wasn’t always a centre-half.

Back when he was kid, the Arsenal man was actually a striker. “I was a good scorer, I was strong, I was technical as well, he told the Daily Mail about his younger days.

However, Saliba’s coach at the time was Kylian Mbappe’s father, and he was the one who changed the now-22-year-old’s position on the pitch.

“He was a good coach and he really helped me at this age… he told the truth – even if you were young, Saliba said. “The message he told me was: ‘Yeah, you’re a good striker but I think you will become a defensive midfielder.'”

As it turned out, Saliba eventually became a centre-back, and Arsenal fans sure are glad he is at the heart of their defence now.
