Kris Boyd discusses Everton's interest in Rangers star Nathan Patterson

Kris Boyd has told Sky Sports – as per the Evening Times – that Everton’s interest will not go away in Rangers defender Nathan Patterson.

Patterson, 19, has starred for Rangers since breaking into Steven Gerrard’s first team last season. However, he has played just 18 times at senior level.

His form even saw him become a part of Scotland’s Euro 2020 squad. The Record reported earlier on Monday that Everton had a second bid rejected.

An initial £5million bid was upped to £8million, but both have been rejected by Rangers. Boyd, though, reckons Everton are not going to stop.

Patterson was absent on Sunday, because he had to self-isolate. Rangers legend Boyd expects Everton to keep pursuing Patterson.

“It’s something Rangers are going to have to deal with, because from what I’m led to believe, the bid from Everton is not going away, the interest.”

Boyd on Patterson: Rangers need to fend off Everton interest

While numerous reports claim Rangers need to sell, the Gers have got to do everything they can to keep Patterson north of the border this summer.

They’re certainly winning the race. Rangers have time on their side, with less than 30 hours to until the transfer window runs out.

One would assume Patterson will be happy to stay at Rangers, if he is given assurances that he will continue to get game time – despite James Tavernier.

But Rangers made a loss of £14.4million last season and if a bid approaches that figure, the Gers will have to seriously consider an offer. Time will tell.
