Kieran Tierney posts two-word verdict on Takehiro Tomiyasu's Arsenal debut

Takehiro Tomiyasu has posted on Instagram after making his Arsenal debut – and Kieran Tierney has posted his verdict on the Japanese defender.

Tomiyasu, 22, joined Arsenal on deadline day from Serie A side Bologna. It comes after an entire summer’s worth of speculation over his future.

The Japan international impressed for Bologna either at right-back, as a right-wing-back or on the right of a back three. He cost around £20million.

Despite playing for Japan during the international break and only joining the Gunners on deadline day – he was thrown into the side against Norwich.

It paid off. Tomiyasu was one of Arsenal’s best performers as Mikel Arteta finally secured his first win of the season. Tomiyasu posted on Instagram.

Tomiyasu debut: Tierney delivers verdict on new Arsenal star

It was a signing that had to be made by Arsenal and Edu. Hector Bellerin’s time at Arsenal had become stale. A new right-sided defender was crucial.

Calum Chambers can play there, but he is naturally a centre-back. Ainsley Maitland-Niles wants to play in midfield, and Cedric Soares is best as cover.

So, Tomiyasu has a real chance of becoming first choice in this Arsenal side this season. Judging by his debut for the Gunners, he has made a solid start.

He is not only impressing Arsenal fans. Indeed, fellow defender Tierney applauded Tomiyasu – posting a two-word message on the star’s Instagram.
