TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has criticised Arsenal star Kai Havertz for his performance against Newcastle United over the weekend.
The 24-year-old has been the number one target for critics since he made his move to the Emirates. No player has been criticised more than him, but we think Bent’s latest comments on the Arsenal man are a bit harsh.

Darren Bent criticises Arsenal star Kai Havertz
Arsenal signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the summer in a move that not many people understood.
The Gunners needed a replacement for Granit Xhaka in the middle of their park, and instead of going for an out-and-out midfielder, Mikel Arteta chose to sign the Germany international.
Havertz has had a really difficult start to life as a Gunner. Things just have not worked out for him, and it seems like he’s getting criticised after almost every game.
After his performance against Newcastle on Saturday in what was a hugely controversial game, Havertz has come under fire again, with Bent not at all happy with his display.
The pundit said on talkSPORT: “Kai Havertz – I mean, I’ve heard some Arsenal fans say he was OK at the weekend. If you pay £65 million for a midfield player, I want goals and I want assists. I want some kind of contribution.
“Not just running around and kicking everyone or just running around one-paced. I need goals, I need assists, I need people trying to create something. That has not worked.”

Havertz had his best game for Arsenal vs Newcastle
The problem people have with Arsenal’s Kai Havertz is that they are constantly expecting him to score and assist but are just ignoring everything else he does on the pitch.
We’re not for one second saying that Havertz has had a good season – he hasn’t, he has been poor. However, his performance against Newcastle United on Saturday was his best in an Arsenal shirt by a mile.
Havertz looked strong in duels, drove forward with the ball well and even showed a bit of bite with his challenges, which is something that nobody has seen from him since he joined Arsenal.
Yes, a goal on Saturday would’ve been great, but some of the things he did against a tough Newcastle side are really encouraging.
