'Kane was not happy': Sky pundit spots Tottenham star fuming with teammate v Southampton

Tottenham Hotspur got their Premier League campaign off on a winning note on Saturday afternoon.

Antonio Conte’s Spurs were rampant as they hammered Southampton 4-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham actually conceded first as James Ward-Prowse scored with an impressive volley in the 12th minute.

The Saints captain hammered Moussa Djenepo’s shot into the ground and past Hugo Lloris to silence the home crowd.

However, Spurs were level just nine minutes later, Ryan Sessegnon getting on the scoresheet with a back-post header.

The 22-year-old, assisted by Dejan Kulusevski, celebrated his first Premier League goal for Tottenham.

And on 31 minutes, Eric Dier’s first goal in more than three years put Spurs in front.

The England defender got a deft flick on Son Heung-min’s whipped delivery from the left to find the bottom corner.

Just after the hour mark, Spurs went 3-1 up when Emerson Royal’s cross was bundled in by Mohammad Salisu.

And just a minute later, Kulusevski made it four with a lovely curling effort.

Earlier this week, BBC Sport pundit Glenn Murray spoke about Tottenham’s “almost unmatchable” firepower.

Admittedly, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min weren’t at their best today, but despite this, Spurs won convincingly.

One moment just before the break highlighted the frustration – and perhaps the high standards – among the two.

Former Tottenham ace Michael Dawson, now a Sky Sports pundit, spotted Kane’s reaction to a missed Son chance.

Son beat a few Saints defenders to delay his shot but then blazed well over, which Kane wasn’t pleased with.

“It should be three for Spurs,” Dawson said on Sky Sports (6/8/22, 15:47).

“Can Son play that ball to Kane there? It was a lovers tiff as Kane was not happy with his strike partner.”

BBC Sport also picked up the exchange between Kane and Son.

‘They are like the couple that never argue but Harry Kane is not happy with Son Heung-min here,’ they wrote (6/8/22, 15:47).

‘Spurs pounce on a Yan Valery error and Son scampers into the box.

‘Kane finds space at the far post but Son tries to beat defenders instead, making the angle tougher for himself and blasts over.’
