In what proved to be a tense night for Arsenal against Brentford at the Emirates yesterday, a vital three points were eventually secured.

Mikel Arteta saw his Arsenal side pegged back by an incredibly unfortunate moment, and Thomas Frank’s team were proving hard to beat.

But ultimately Kai Havertz did win the game for Arsenal, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a more popular player around North London right now.

Havertz’s redemption story in the eyes of many fans has been quite remarkable, a player who is now simply undroppable.

But it wasn’t just the German who contributed to such an important comeback.

Declan Rice, the other big money summer signing, was also in brilliant form himself, once again thriving in the number eight role.

Scoring Arsenal’s opener, Rice now has six goals and six assists in the league this season, beating his best ever West Ham United tally of four and two last campaign.

And having enjoyed Arsenal’s comeback against Brentford, Rice celebrated by sharing a post on Instagram after the game.

And in the comments of the post, both Jurrien Timber and Edu Gaspar were delighted to see Rice doing so well.

Both left a host of emojis celebrating Rice’s performance as Arsenal moved themselves back to the top of the league.

Following Aaron Ramsdale’s unfortunate mistake against Brentford, Mikel Arteta must have been so delighted with how his Arsenal side reacted.

For much of the second half it felt as if Arsenal were creating that ‘last five minute’ surge, even with half an hour or so left to play.

It’s clear that this group of players are so determined to succeed, and they really believe that they can.

And with that being said, Arsenal will need to show similar endeavour and quality to overcome a first leg deficit against FC Porto on Tuesday.
