Jurgen Klopp now wants to sign ‘outstanding’ midfielder this month, he’s a ‘huge fan’ – journalist

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat this month.

That’s according to TeamTalk, who believe the Reds manager is a huge fan of the Moroccan international.

Liverpool’s midfield has been a source of contention this season.

Klopp hasn’t been able to extract the best out of his players in the middle of the park.

Thiago Alcantara for all of his quality doesn’t appear to be the right fit at this time.

He’s also not seen the best of Fabinho this season, who as Liverpool’s best defensive midfielder is a key player in the side.

Liverpool’s midfield consists of players who have reached or are already past their peak, or young players still nowhere near theirs.

They haven’t had the same amount of control as they normally do in part because of this lack of balance.

Klopp wants to sign Amrabat to try to address this, especially after his brilliant performances at the World Cup.

Fiorentina recognise how sought after the 26-year-old is, which could make negotiations difficult.

Klopp wants to sign Amrabat in January

Speaking to TeamTalk, Graeme Bailey provided the following update on Liverpool’s pursuit of the midfielder: “There’s no getting away from the fact that Liverpool need to sort their midfield out, and they know it,”

“In terms of this month they have been keen to bring someone in, and Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is a player that Klopp is a huge fan of.

“His performance at the World Cup finals was exceptional, but that has meant that his value is firm and Fiorentina don’t look like they will be persuaded into a loan deal with options – something which they were willing to do last year.”

The ‘outstanding’ midfielder is a fantastic on the ball and has a keen eye for a pass.

Normally tasked with anchoring Fiorentina’s midfield, he could allow the likes of Thiago or Harvey Elliott to flourish further forward.

Amrabat reads the game brilliantly too, and can sniff out danger very quickly.

He could even function in a double-pivot alongside Fabinho, although this would make Liverpool very defensive.

Klopp wants to sign Amrabat to inject some much-needed grit into the centre of the pitch for Liverpool.

Whether a deal can be done in January remains to be seen.
